The 4th Dandridge Scots-Irish Festival
CEILIDH
In modern usage, a céilidh (Irish pronunciation: [ˈceːlʲiː], Scottish Gaelic pronunciation: [ˈkʲʰeːli], English pronunciation: /ˈkeɪli/) is a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing. It originated in Ireland and Scotland, but is now common throughout the Irish and Scottish diaspora. Before discos and nightclubs, there were céilidhs in most town and village halls on Friday or Saturday nights; they are still common today. (Source: Wikipedia)
